The Choreography of Us

By Eliseo Ortiz

An outdoor game created by Eliso Ortiz, The Choreography of Us took place during Currents New Media 2019 Opening Weekend. Two participants were invited to fly drones simultaneously. The drones were tied together by a string. The first level of the game consisted in maintaining the flight for four minutes without colliding or knocking down the other drone. Participants had to be careful not to fly too far or too high because the tension and reach of the line that bonded them together also endangered them. Therefore, the operation required an implicit consent, a subjective empathy. In order to succeed, the flight had to be carefully synchronized, depending entirely on the fragile ethical relationship between both participants.
