Life’s a Picnic!
By Abstract Picnic
On exhibit through September 20th.
Created by local arts collective Abstract Picnic, and currently gracing one of the park’s community buildings, Life’s a Picnic! is a vibrant, large-scale mural meant to celebrate the playful, natural joy and community spirit of the American picnic. “Picnics unite people with the intention of being present and enjoying life,” noted a member of the collective. “We hope the imagery brings people joy, encourages communal gatherings, and provides amusement with the historical art references throughout the piece.”
Abstract Picnic is an artist-run, Santa Fe-based collective centered around community building and art making of all disciplines. Their primary goal is to support underrepresented, emerging artists in northern New Mexico through creative development, exposure and conceptual discourse. Abstract Picnic also seeks to deepen communal connections and facilitate personal growth by hosting a variety of events.
Check back in the coming month for programming information, including a real life community picnic in early June.
